- I learned about the 23 Jan SDL code by seeing something in this newsgroup.
-
- I thought I'd learn about it visiting the USR web page, but I can't find my way
- around there at all since they changed it... I used to have a "hot list" url that
- took me right the Courier download file area...
-
- So, I phone USR support to learn that the upgrade is only available from their
- BBS... gee, I can call long distance to get it, but It's not on their FTP nor web
- sites ... fortunately someone e-mailed me the necessary file. (Thanks, and you
- know who you are :-)
-
- But alas, it turns out that I spent $200 US on the daughtercard upgrade for my
- pre-V.34 Courier. The daughter card was to make "hardware updates obsolete"
- et al... but not this time.... I'm supposed to send my modem all the way to
- Illinois for three weeks while they have to do a hardware upgrade.... Hey, they
- trusted me to install the daughter card properly... why can't they send me the
- parts and I'll just get my soldering iron out for 15 minutes?
-
- Sheesh, I think I should have "upgraded" to Motorola or ??? instead of the
- daughtercard route... at least then I'd have TWO working modems...
